Nas Celebrates His 38th Birthday With 2 Ladies And A Gang Of Fellas

AZ, Common, Hov, Khaled, ‘Melo, Ne-Yo, DJ Premier, Steve Stout, and Tyson Beckford were all on hand to celebrate Nas on his 38th birthday yesterday.

It looked like a very lowkey affair, as any grown man’s birthday should be, with Nas sharing a few laughs and breaking bread with his boys. In fact, from looking at the pics, only two women were even invited:

Carmelo’s wife…

And Zoe Saldana? Hmmm…

Oh, wait!

If you look really carefully in this one, you can see a few ladies. It was still a sausage fest in there though.

Dewumi and Olisa make peace.

This video was shot on Tuesday, September 13th, 2011. Please people stop the negativity. Let's all embrace peace. Olisa has taken the bold step to make a public apology. The offended party has obviously accepted, so people let's bury the hatchet an move on.

Another Nigerian Celerity Passes.

Eastern highlife artiste, MC Loph, is dead. He lost his life earlier today, when he crashed his recently-acquired SUV along the infamous Benin/Ore Road on his way to Anambra for his traditional wedding. Reports say he was travelling along with his wife to be and his sister from Lagos. Himself and his sister died on the spot. His wife to be is reported to have survived with a broken arm.

MC Loph real name Nwaozo Obiajulu, famed for his hit single “Osondi Owendi” featuring Flavour N’Abania, has been gaining buzz across the East and other parts of the country over the past 12 months. It’s really unfortunate that something this tragic would happen to such a man with real promise. May his soul rest in peace.

Enjoy below the video that brought him fame and prominence. It's his hit single 'Osondi Owendi' feat. Flavour N'Abania.

Lady Gaga Strips Down and Parties After CFDA Nip Slip

Lady Gaga had a nipple slip at the CFDA Fashion Awards, but I'm fairly certain the mother monster wasn’t too bothered by it.

After popping out of her bodice dress on the red carpet, Gaga got down and dirty at the after-party wearing only a sheer bodysuit and pasties covering her nipples.

Like Khloe Kardashian, the “Judas” singer isn't one to let a wardrobe malfunction slow her down.

CLAIM: Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Baby is Band-Aid to “Rocky Marriage”

“Beyonce Baby Puts Marriage Back on Track,” reads a headline from the National Enquirer, which claims the singer’s pregnancy is “shoring up her rocky marriage to rap mogul Jay-Z.”

According to an alleged “insider” for the tabloid, “Preparing for the baby has put their marriage back on track after some recent turbulent times.”

What “turbulent times”?

The mag claims that while Beyonce was on tour in Europe this summer, “Jay-Z was spotted partying in the Big Apple with model Selita Ebanks on July 20 and at the club 1Oak with a bevy of beauties on July 8.”

“Beyonce called Jay out on his party-boy behavior,” claims a supposed source, who says, “She told him that as a father-to-be he needed to act like a family man. After a heart-to-heart, Jay-Z committed himself totally to Beyonce and their baby.”

It’s awfully convenient that the Enquirer hadn’t “committed” itself to this premise until afterBeyonce and Jay-Z announced the pregnancy, only bringing up allegations of ”turbulent times” now that the baby supposedly fixed everything.

The magazine is using the couple’s happy news to revise history and create scandal where none existed.

A source close to the couple said that Beyonce and Jay-Z’s marriage was “never off track.”

Actually, the only thing off-track, once again, is the Enquirer’s reporting.

Officials confirm 'credible but unconfirmed' 9/11 threat

U.S. officials said Thursday evening they have "specific, credible but unconfirmed" information about a potential threat against the United States coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

"We have received credible information very recently about a possible plot directed at the homeland that seems to be focused on New York and Washington, D.C.," a senior administration official told CNN Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr.

The official said the plot was believed to involve three individuals, including a U.S. citizen. U.S. officials believed the threat was a vehicle laden with explosives, but "the intelligence picture is not completely formed," the official said. "Not enough is known about the potential operatives and their plotting."

The threat is believed to entail a vehicle bomb, but "we cannot rule out other means," a U.S. official said.

A senior law enforcement official involved in briefings about the matter told CNN Justice Department Producer Terry Frieden that his best information is that the three individuals had not yet entered the United States.

The information came in around noon Wednesday, one official said.

A senior federal law enforcement official intimately involved in counterterrorism efforts told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King authorities "aren't sure if this is or real or just chatter."

The official confirmed the threat was vehicle-related.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters Thursday night that while additional police will be deployed around the city, "There's no reason for any of the rest of us to change ... our daily routines."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged residents to be cautious, but said "there is no reason to panic."

Officials said they were taking the threat seriously, while evidently trying to temper the news by saying such threats are commonplace during key events.

"It's accurate that there is specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information," said Matthew Chandler, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security. "As we always do before important dates like the anniversary of 9/11, we will undoubtedly get more reporting in the coming days. Sometimes this reporting is credible and warrants intense focus, other times it lacks credibility and is highly unlikely to be reflective of real plots under way.

"Regardless, we take all threat reporting seriously, and we have taken, and will continue to take, all steps necessary to mitigate any threats that arise. We continue to ask the American people to remain vigilant as we head into the weekend," Chandler said in a prepared statement.

A Department of Homeland Security official, speaking on background, said, "We will continue to respond appropriately to protect the American people from an evolving threat picture in the coming days and beyond. This may include an increased law enforcement presence at airports and other transit hubs, land and sea ports of entry, federal buildings, and other high-profile and critical infrastructure locations."

The information originated from the tribal border area of Pakistan and Afghanistan, a federal official told CNN producer Mike Ahlers.

Another source gave CNN conflicting information about possible details of the threat.

Rep. Peter King, R-New York, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said very specific details were made known to lawmakers about the threat. "Many agencies are looking at this from every possible angle," he said.

But it is not known yet if the threat is real, he said, adding, "I would tell people now to go about their lives. There's no need to panic."

A senior administration official with firsthand knowledge told CNN National Security Contributor Fran Townsend that although there is "specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information," there are a lot of questions about this information -- "weird things."

A federal law enforcement official told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that the threat appears to go beyond intelligence gathered from Osama bin Laden's compound after he was killed by Navy SEALs. That information talked about aspirations to carry out an attack on U.S. interests on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

"The president was briefed," a senior administration official said. "He directed that the intelligence community and the administration take all necessary steps to ensure vigilance."

Earlier Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told reporters that intelligence officials had picked up "lots of chatter" on jihadi websites and elsewhere about the impending 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks "and we're taking it all seriously," but nothing yet that warranted issuing a threat advisory.

Nonetheless, the department will be at a heightened level of readiness as the nation commemorates the anniversary, "staffing up" the Federal Air Marshals Service and other agencies, she said.

Napolitano said it is not uncommon to see increased chatter before major events. "We know it's an iconic day to al Qaeda, in part because of what was found at the (Osama bin Laden) compound. So we are preparing accordingly," she said.

"I don't want to give those (details) out because I don't want to tell the bad guys exactly what we're doing," Napolitano said. "But I think it's fair to say that in addition to asking citizens to be vigilant and so forth, that we have ourselves leaned forward and have made sure that we are doing all that we can from the DHS perspective."

8 dumbest moves by big-time criminals

You've got your burglary tools. You've got a blueprint of the target. You've even got a rock solid alibi who is willing to lie under oath that they saw you somewhere else at the time of the crime, but did you remember to pack the most important tool of any high society crime i.e. your brain? These brainless idiots didn't.

1.) The Great Train Robbery Gang Robbers The word “great” has long been associated with this infamous 1963 heist of nearly 2.3 million pounds, but the “great” part only refers to the heist itself and not the “not-so-great” things the robbers did with the money after they lifted it. Then again, the “Not-So-Great Train Robbery” really doesn’t look as good on a movie poster. The men behind the infamous heist celebrated their massive loot by playing a game of Monopoly using the money they had stolen in place of the proper fake money that came with the game. When a nearby resident alerted police to the suspicious activity in the barn where they hid out, police found the Monopoly game and extracted several fingerprints from it that led to their inevitable captures. 2.) The Newton Boys' Train Robbery These infamous band of bank and train robbing brothers had set their greedy eyes really high when it came to knocking over banks and money transports for their personal gain. They were also pretty good at it too, until they panicked and got caught. During their famous 1924 robbery of a money train that netted them more than $3 million in cash, one of the gang members accidentally shot Willis Newton during the heist. One of the hostages heard the gang called the wounded “Willie” and police found him being cared for in a home just outside of Illinois. The rest of the gang panicked and took off in the hopes they could elude the authorities and Jesse found himself in a drunken stupor in Mexico where he buried his share of the money. The only problem is he forgot where he buried it and it was never found since a federal agent met him at the border. [Legends of America]

3.) The Dunbar Armored Car Robbers Sometimes all it takes is a tiny, almost microscopic scrap of evidence to unravel the most careful of plans. In this case, they couldn't have been dumber if they left the rental truck receipt for the getaway car at the scene of the crime. One of the biggest armed robberies in American history would have become the most successful and profitable robberies if the men behind the 1997 Dunbar armored car holdup in Los Angeles hadn’t left behind a piece of the U-Haul van they rented to carry the $18.9 million they stole at gunpoint. The piece of the broken tail light left at the loading dock led police to the rental agency where they picked up the vehicle just moments before the robbery and that not only gave them their identities, but also their addresses, phone numbers and even their personal identification. 4.) The Belagio Casino Robber This crime draws a lot of rather easy comparisons to the heist pulled by the boys of the popular caper film Ocean’s 11 and that’s really not fair. Not only did the fake movie thieves get away with their crime, but they also had the good sense to keep their mouths shut. The producers behind the film who thought it needed two more sequels is another matter entirely. Anthony Carleo could have scored one of the biggest casino hit jobs in Las Vegas history when he took more than $1.5 million in chips from the Belagio Casino. His greed and bravado got the best of him. He actually went back to the casino and gambled away more than $100,000 of the chips he stole and he bragged about the crime to anyone would listen or at least had a competent sense of hearing. He even told his plan to a poker dealer three days before the robbery, a dealer who worked for the very casino he was about to rob. [Las Vegas Journal-Review]

5.) The Florida Yacht Caper Child actors are often portrayed as lost souls who feel cheated by the industry that spawned and rejected them and need to exact their revenge against the society that no longer loves them by committing a felony or two. And normally, that would be true if 99.99999 percent of them didn't perpetuate it by doing exactly that when they became adults. Brad Renfro, the deceased movie child star of Apt Pupil and The Client, tried to steal a yacht with a friend worth over $175,000 parked in a Fort Lauderdale dock just days before he was scheduled to shoot another movie. Their plot was foiled when they forgot to untie the big boat from the dock and as they hit the gas pedal (or whatever the boat’s equivalent is to a gas pedal), the boat lurched forward, then swung back and crashed into the dock. Some witnesses dragged them off the boat and held them down until police arrived. [ABC News]

6.) The Knightsbridge Safe Deposit Robbery Ringleader The poet Maya Angelou once said, “There is a very fine line between loving life and being greedy for it.” If that’s the case, meet the world’s worst metaphorical tightrope walker. Viccei was a lifelong luster for women, money and power. He modeled himself after Al Pacino’sScarface who would make a perfect role model if your goal is to become completely out of touch with reality and sloppy with details. More than anything, he wanted to be known as the mastermind of the world’s biggest robbery and he got his wish in 1987 in London where he organized the $40 million pound Knightsbridge safe deposit caper, a heist that took meticulous planning and precision cunning to achieve. Shortly after the caper, he fled the country to Colombia and would have gotten away with it if he just stayed put. Instead, he stayed in London to make plans to bring his beloved Ferrari Testerosa with him. They not only arrested him but also his girlfriend and all but two members of his gang. 7.) The Other Belagio Casino Robbery Casino may be one of the most heavily guarded and secure casinos in the whole of human existence, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to beat the house. It helps if you aren't that intelligent in the first place. The first mastermind behind the Belagio robbery actually had a fairly successful 10-year spree of knocking over casinos such as the MGM Grand and the Desert Inn. In 2000, however, his attempt to steal $1.5 million from the Belagio resulted in his arrest after he failed to adequately disguise himself from the casino’s many high-tech security cameras. When he knocked off the Belagio, he only wore a baseball cap and sunglasses to protect his identity and just about every camera he walked in front of gave security and police a clear enough identity to broadcast on local Las Vegas stations for four days straight until his inevitable arrest. [The Daily Mail]

8.) The Antwerp Diamond Heist One of the dumbest things any crook, whether they use a gun or wonky accounting to get what they want, can do to get caught is leave a trial for the authorities to find. The gang who committed this high priced diamond heist couldn't have left a clearer trail if they used actually breadcrumbs. The thieves who broke into a vault in Antwerp in 2003 on Valentine’s Day weekend actually went to a great deal of detail to get the loot quickly and confuse the authorities once they fled the scene. They would have gotten away with $100 million in diamonds if they had left an actual paper trail that brought authorities to their doorstep. As they fled the scene, they accidentally dumped loads of incriminated garbage in a wooden area in Belgium that was being regularly patrolled for litterbugs. The garbage contained incriminating details such as receipts for surveillance equipment, business cards for security consultants and even a few loose diamonds. [Wired]

World's oldest person celebrates 115th birthday

The world's oldest person has celebrated her 115th birthday.

Besse Cooper, who is listed as the world's oldest person, marks her 115th birthday Photo: AP

Besse Cooper's birthday celebrations were held at her residence in Monroe, Georgia – although this year, unlike last, there was no Elvis impersonator at the party.

A researcher from Guinness Book of World Records was on hand at Mrs Cooper's birthday party to deliver the Tennessee native her second plaque that certifies her as the oldest person on the planet.

"We thought one was enough," said her son, Sidney Cooper, 76.

"She still remembers things and thinks clearly and talks.

"But she has her good days and her bad days. I'd say she sleeps about 80 per cent of the time."

Born in Tennessee in 1896, Besse Cooper moved to Georgia during World War in search of work as a teacher. She married her husband Luther in 1924, and they had four children. Today she has 12 grandchildren and more than a dozen great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In the same year Mrs Cooper was born, the first Dow Jones Industrial Average was published, the first modern Olympic Games were held and the first Ford vehicle was built.

"She never worried," says her son.

Besse Cooper told local newspapers that her secret to longevity lies in two key tenets.

"I mind my own business," she said. "And I don't eat junk food."

Cow takes highway leap of faith and gets stuck on safety barrier

A kooky cow trying to avoid traffic found itself in a pickle after becoming stuck on a roadside safety barrier.

The animal was stalking the roads in the Italian mountain village of Montecorvino Rovella-Salerno when it decided to head toward greener pastures.

But, misjudging the height of the railing as it took a leap, the cow's front and hind legs became separated by the safety rail - which is normally supposed to keep cars from crashing down the mountainside.

Local mechanic and amateur photographer Roberto Marano was driving towards the village when he spotted the bonkers bessie - and took a snap to show his family and friends.

Luckily the resourceful bovine managed to wriggle free without the need for human intervention and carried on grazing in the forest.

Arsenal boss Wenger 'hurt' by humiliating Man Utd defeat

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits to being hurt and humiliated by his side's 8-2 defeat by Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Frenchman accepts his players "collapsed physically" during the drubbing at Old Trafford and were "terrible" in the last 20 minutes.

Wenger apologises to Gunners fans for the performance but remains hopeful his young squad will recover, bolstered by possible signings in what remains of the August transfer window.
