Michael Jackson trial: Dr Murray told doctors not to give up

ER doctor Richelle Cooper admits Dr Conrad Murray was not satisfied with her verdict that Michael Jackson was dead.

The manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's former doctor entered its second week, as prosecutors continued their questioning of an emergency room doctor who gave paramedics permission to pronounce Jackson dead in his bedroom.

Doctor Richelle Cooper told jurors that Dr Conrad Murray never mentioned that he had given the singer the powerful anaesthetic propofol.

Under questioning from the defence, Dr Cooper explained that she never asked Dr Murray to sign a death certificate because, by the time he was brought to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Jackson became her patient.

Dr Cooper previously testified that she gave paramedics permission to pronounce Jackson dead, but that Dr Murray wanted resuscitation efforts to continue at the hospital.

Dr Murray, 58, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and his defence lawyers claim Jackson gave himself a fatal dose of sedatives and propofol, which is normally administered in hospital settings.
