Comedian Patrice O'Neal dies, had suffered stroke

Veteran stand-up comic Patrice O'Neal, who gained a wider following through TV and radio and helped roast Charlie Sheen, died Tuesday from complications of a stroke he suffered last month. He was 41.

O'Neal's manager, Jonathan Brandstein, said he died in a New York-area hospital.

"Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius," Brandstein said in a statement.

O'Neal appeared on Conan O'Brien's and David Letterman's TV shows and was a frequent guest on the "Opie & Anthony" radio show on Sirius XM. His performance was a highlight of the Comedy Central roast of Sheen, who had been fired from the hit CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men," in September.

Sheen said in a tweet Tuesday, "The entertainment world as well as the world at large lost a brilliant man."

He added, "Patrice had that rare 'light' around him and inside of him. I only knew him for the few days leading up the Roast. Yet I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent. My tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family."

Other entertainers also mourned O'Neal on Twitter.

"RIP Patrice O'Neal. You made us laugh til we cried," comedian Sarah Silverman said.

Actor Jay Mohr said, "Just heard. Goodnight brother. Damn. Just ridiculous. Terrible. Beyond sad."

O'Neal had half-hour specials on Showtime and HBO and was the host of "Web Junk 20" on VH1. He appeared in numerous television shows including "Arrested Development," ''Chappelle's Show" and "The Office."

O'Neal suffered a stroke on Oct. 19 after battling diabetes. He is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo, his stepdaughter, Aymilyon, his sister, Zinder, and his mother, Georgia.

Brandstein, his manager, said the family wished to thank "all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks."

May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Dr. Murray's Mom Begs Judge for Mercy

Dr. Conrad Murray's mother says she's "suffering" from overwhelming sadness because her only son is incarcerated -- and has begged the judge to go easy on the Doc when it comes to his sentence.

Mrs. Milta Rush sent a letter to Judge Pastor -- explaining why Murray deserves mercy ... because he's a good person who has "never drank alcohol, took drugs or smoked cigarettes in his life."

Milta explains, "He has never been in trouble with the law before and I am barely standing, scared and worried sick about him being incarcerated."

"He is saddened and remorseful about the death of his friend Michael Jackson and I do believe he is certainly learning the toughest lesson of his life."

Milta continues, "I sympathize with Mrs. Jackson as a mother; I feel her pain for having lost her son. I sense she was very close to her son. I really wanted to approach her personally and tell her I am sorry for the loss of her son but I was unsure if she would be receptive, and I did not want to take the chance of violating the courts rules. I am sorry for her loss."

"Judge Pastor, Conrad, is my son and as a mother I must say I know him inside out. He is sorry for what happened to Michael and had no intent towards him."

"I humbly beg for your heart felt consideration of everything I have said about Conrad, and ask for your compassion and leniency in giving him probation or community service."

Dr. Murray's sentencing hearing is scheduled for later today.

Photoshop Hell: The Worst, Most Hilariously Bad Album Covers Of All Time

We’ve heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”. But what about albums?

So much investment is put into album packaging and determining how an artist is marketed. That starts with the album cover. Sometimes they’re masterpieces that rile up their fans. Other times, they’re pause worthy moments of Photoshop awkwardness that we can’t help but laugh at. So with that said, here are the most horrible album covers of all time.

pooh man funky as i wanna be

Pooh Man – Funky As I Wanna Be - What in the name of Herpes is going on here? Is she dead or something? Pooh Man is a freak. Clearly.

tony tee time to get physical

Tony Tee – Time To Get Physical - Why does he need two burly guys to lift a bar with no weights on it. And what is that chick doing? There’s so much awkward going on here.

lil wayne carter 3

Lil Wayne – Tha Carter III - What’s going on with Weezy here? This was in the height of his crazy drugginess and the album cover is a perfect example. Tatted up babies? And a million people bought this damn thing in its first week.

big bear doin thangs

Big Bear – Doin Thangs - So we’re throwing bears on album covers like they’re super hood or something? The Ghetto Berenstein Bears look means this should go straight to the trash bin.

millie jackson

Millie Jackson – Back To The Isht - Want to say that rappers are responsible for all the horrible album covers? Look at this old school cover from Millie Jackson. On the toilet? That’s a little too much.

spank

Spank Rock and Benny Blanco – Bangers & Cash - So we’re just going to throw two chunky chicks in a vat of honey and pretend like they’re dimes? They couldn't find other women? Or better names thank Spank Rock? Fail galore!

top dog slammin hoes

Top Dog – Slam Dunk’n Hoes - He’s just literally slam dunking a hoe. Who would pose for this? Did she think that getting dunked LeBron style into a goal would be her big break? She’s probably at K-Mart wondering where it all went wrong.

ta smallz

TA Smallz – Who Killed My Mama - The title alone is enough to make us wonder what could possibly be in store for us. Why on earth would they feel the need to have digital roses? Real roses cost like ten bucks. So…fake roses? Why?!

christmas n memphis

Various Artists – Christmas N’ Memphis - So, this is how Christmas is in Memphis? Crackhead-looking Santas getting held up at gun point? Can we never have Christmas in Memphis? Ever.

toys trees and

DJ Scream Kickstand – Toys, Trees And Snow - Actually, we have no clue what the title or musician is. There are just so many words! Can we just make rappers stay away from Christmas albums for ever and ever?

wet blakc

Wet Black - Errrr. No comment.

uncl murda

Uncle Murda – Murda’s Muzik II - Why would anyone want to shoot a care bear? Or photoshop dead Care Bears on album covers? Maybe this is why nobody listens to Uncle Murda? It’s karma.

okra eaters

Skillet & Leroy – The Okra Eaters - We think that “okra” might be code for something else. But why would you want to reference a hoo-ha as okra of all things?! That just doesn’t make any man want to come anywhere near it. Ewwwww.

who's hard

Big Shug – Who’s Hard - The cover itself is pretty normal. But that title? Is this an album title or a solicitation? You can’t be gangsta with a title like that? Sorry Mr. Shug.

killa klan

Killa Klan – Kill Or Be Killed - Why are there KKK members in the background? Are they supposed to be Black guys in Klan hoodies? Nothing good can come from any of this. Just stop it.

no limit

Every No Limit Album Ever – We could donate a whole section to just the crappy No Limit Albums. They were all full of glitter, bright colors and were more gaudy than your aunt’s church hat. What was Master P thinking?

wayne

Every Cash Money Album - And following in No Limit’s footsteps was Cash Money. Their albums looked just as gaudy and embarrassing. Looks like Weezy hasn’t changed too much since then.

Rick Ross Album "God Forgives, I Don't" Pushed Back, thanks to the slowdown from his two seizures last month.

Rick Ross revealed details about their upcoming projects. His much anticipated fifth album God Forgives, I Don't. Ross was honest about the album's release, explaining that the December 13 date would likely be pushed, thanks to the slowdown from his two seizures last month. "The date is still tentative, December 13. [Because of] my little health situation, I had to postpone a lot of my groundwork," Ross told MTV News. "And I feel like that's important for artists like myself."

"If I wanted to, I'm pretty sure I could still meet that date, but I think for the people, it's more important [to lay groundwork] for when I get out there and look them in the face and touch them hands," Ross said, explaining the likelihood of a delay. "We've just gotta lay ground for it, and I'mma keep y'all updated."

During his rest and recovery period, Ross had time to link up with Jay-Z for a new track, which is set to appear on God Forgives, I Don't. "Just expect the biggest collabo we've ever made together. It's just gonna make the project mean that much more," he said. "Any time me and the Big Homie get together, you know I'm coming with my A-game, 'cause I wanna make sure the homie is impressed with whatever I'm coming to the table with — and he was. He blessed me, so y'all get ready for it."

D.B. Cooper: 40 years later

November 24th, 2011, marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary Cooper case, an unsolved crime that has baffled agents, detectives and amateur sleuths, and spurned one of the greatest manhunts in law enforcement history.

A 1971 artist's sketch released by the FBI shows the skyjacker known as 'Dan Cooper' and 'D.B. Cooper', was made from the recollections of passengers and crew of a Northwest Orien

The FBI’s case file on D.B. Cooper runs some forty feet long. It is located in the basement archives of the Bureau’s field office in Seattle, where for four decades agents have hunted for the man who ransomed a passenger jet for a small fortune and parachutes, then jumped out the back over the rural Northwest, during the middle of a storm, never to be seen again.

This Thanksgiving, November 24th, 2011, marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary Cooper case, an unsolved crime that has baffled agents, detectives and amateur sleuths, and spurned one of the greatest manhunts in law enforcement history.

Geoffrey Gray, author of The New York Times bestseller SKYJACK: The Hunt for D.B. Cooper, was the first reporter to gain access to the FBI’s Cooper files. In addition to hundreds of documents, he was able to get his hands on the Bureau’s photos.

The above image: A 1971 artist's sketch released by the FBI shows the skyjacker known as 'Dan Cooper' and 'D.B. FBI spokeswoman Ayn Sandalo Dietrich tells The Seattle Times that a law enforcement member directed investigators to a person who might have helpful information on Cooper.

Man leaves $1.28 million dollars at Sydney restaurant

Australian police are looking for a good explanation of why someone would walk into a Sydney eatery, exit in a seeming panic--and leave a suitcase containing more than a million dollars behind.

The seemingly inadvertent money drop occurred at an Italian bistro named Café Marco. On Tuesday morning a causally dressed man entered the establishment, and didn't really settle into the Café Marco experience before heading back out the door--minus the suitcase "full of money."

Investigating officers in Sydney report that the luggage in question contained "a significant amount of cash"--roughly $1.28 million in $50 bills. However, police have not yet arrived at a full estimate of the suitcase's cash content--for the simple reason that they're still counting it.

Detective Inspector Ian Pryde told reporters that witnesses described the man as Asian, and his age around 30. He was wearing surfing shorts and a wrestling singlet when he walked into the café. Witnesses reportedly told the cops that the man appeared "to get spooked" and left without the money.

At first, the two owners of the café thought the suitcase was a bomb and moved it out of the way of customers until the police arrived. Police say they now have in custody a 49-year-old man fitting the general description--and that they're preparing to question him about the case of the abandoned cash.

Gynecologist faces charge for secret photos

A German prosecutor said on Monday that 700 women had agreed to press charges against a gynecologist who is suspected of secretly taking thousands of pictures of patients during check-ups in his practice.

As many as 3,000 female patients may have fallen victim to the doctor's hidden camera during examinations at his office in the town of Schifferstadt in Western Germany, local state prosecutor Lothar Liebing said.

"He stands accused of secretly taking photos of female patients' private body parts," Liebing said. "We now need to make clear to what extent he has done this and, of course, why he did this."

The gynecologist could face up to a year in prison if convicted for violating intimacy laws, according to Liebing, but the investigations could be protracted due to the number of photographs -- more than 35,000 -- found in the doctor's office.

German media have said the doctor is 56 years old.

The doctor's practice is now closed, according to Liebing.

Loyal Dog Guards Grave Of Deceased Master

People living in a Chinese village have been so moved by a dog that has been guarding the grave of its deceased owner they plan to build a kennel for him.

The yellow dog belonged to Lao Pan, a single man who died earlier this month aged 68.

After his room in Panjiatun village near Qingdao city, Shandong Province, was cleared his dog disappeared.

But villagers later found the dog by the grave of its owner. Reports say that for seven days, the dog stayed there, refusing to leave.

Seeing that the dog was going without food, the locals tried to take it back to the village and gave it some buns.

The dog took the buns and returned to the graveyard.

Now the villagers are taking food and water to the dog regularly and plan to put up a kennel for it near its owner's grave.

The story is reminiscent of Edinburgh's Greyfriar Bobby, a Skye terrier who, history recalls, spent 14 years at his master's grave in the 19th century.

He is now immortalized with a bronze statue in the city and has his own website.

Bobby belonged to John Gray, who worked for Edinburgh City Police. He was two when Gray died of tuberculosis in 1858 and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard.

The dog apparently spent the rest of his life sitting on his master's grave, cared for by well-wishers.

Several books and films have been based on his story.

Ja Rule Letter #1 From Prison: Inside Rule!!

Today I can truly say I’ve been through it all. A young kid comes in today they put him in the 18 cell right next to mine he looked kinda depressed coming in but nothing out of the ordinary.

A few hours go past and all of a sudden I hear someone choking he’s trying to kill his self.

We all heard it everyone runs to their cell doors and start kicking, banging, calling the CO’s. Now I've seen a person get shot and I've even seen someone die from a drug overdose but this was different this was suicide. It was like I can hear the life leaving his body the CO’s rush in the cell they saved him.

I didn't even think some shit like this was possible in these cells. He tied his bed sheet to a pole that’s attached to a sink, which is about 3 feet off the ground, made some sort of noose, wrapped it around his neck then threw himself forward into a Boston crab carmel clutch type position.

I never understood why a person would wanna kill themselves life is love & love is living it’s gods most precious gift.

After they brought him back to his cell in the suicide suit, he cried for hours.

We tried to console him telling him it’s never that bad to wanna kill yourself. Turns out he just turned 18 and got a girlfriend, who is only 16.

Her parents pressed charges and now he’s locked up on sex offender charges.

He was in school for graphic arts to learn how to make video games. It’s sad cause he’s still a kid himself, a good kid at that and now he’ll be forever labeled rapist or sex offender, when really he’s probably just a kid in love.

Wow it’s crazy how 2 years can be so close but yet so far.

When your 18 & 16, it seems far because he’s now an adult and she’s still a teen, but when your 10 & 12 it’s cute and innocent and when your 18 & 20 nobody gives a fuck.

It makes me think about Britt and her starting to date. I’m not gonna lie at 18 & 16 I’d be at a cross road too, but to ruin a young man’s life & stain his future is not right.

At 18 your legally an adult but your really still just a kid. I remember when I was 18, I thought I knew everything about life & living as I look back now as a 35-year-old man I realize I didn’t know shit LOL and I’m still learning & growing as a man.

Two years, that’s what separates me from my family right now and I look at it as short time, but yet when Ish told me that Britt’s acting partner was 17, I almost had a fit, even tho she’ll be 16 soon. I’m sure he’ll be 18 soon and BAM there it is crossroad LOL.

It’s funny how God puts situations in front of you so you can see it clearly. I trust Britt I know me & Ish raised her well, besides she hates Kids LOL.

But I also know the intentions of a young man. I got my eyes on you lil homie. Don’t make me come back to this motherfucker!

Joe Frazier, Ex-Heavyweight Champ, Dies at 67

Joe Frazier, the former heavyweight champion whose furious and intensely personal fights with a taunting Muhammad Ali endure as an epic rivalry in boxing history, died Monday night. He was 67.

His business representative, Leslie Wolff, told The Associated Press in early November that Frazier had liver cancer and that he had entered hospice care.

Known as Smokin’ Joe, Frazier stalked his opponents around the ring with a crouching, relentless attack — his head low and bobbing, his broad, powerful shoulders hunched — as he bore down on them with an onslaught of withering jabs and crushing body blows, setting them up for his devastating left hook.

It was an overpowering modus operandi that led to versions of the heavyweight crown from 1968 to 1973. Frazier won 32 fights in all, 27 by knockouts, losing four times — twice to Ali in furious bouts and twice to George Foreman. He also recorded one draw.

A slugger who weathered repeated blows to the head while he delivered punishment, Frazier proved a formidable figure. But his career was defined by his rivalry with Ali, who ridiculed him as a black man in the guise of a Great White Hope. Frazier detested him.

Ali vs. Frazier was a study in contrasts. Ali: tall and handsome, a wit given to spouting poetry, a magnetic figure who drew adulation and approbation alike, the one for his prowess and outsize personality, the other for his anti-war views and Black Power embrace of Islam. Frazier: a bull-like man of few words with a blue-collar image and a glowering visage who in so many ways could be on an equal footing with his rival only in the ring.

Frazier won the undisputed heavyweight title with a 15-round decision over Ali at Madison Square Garden in March 1971, in an extravaganza known as the Fight of the Century. Ali scored a 12-round decision at the Garden in a non-title bout in January 1974. Then came the Thrilla in Manila championship bout, in October 1975, regarded as one of the greatest fights in boxing history. It ended when a battered Frazier, one eye swollen shut, did not come out for the 15th round.

The Ali-Frazier battles played out at a time when the heavyweight boxing champion was far more celebrated than he is today, a figure who could stand alone in the spotlight a decade before an alphabet soup of boxing sanctioning bodies arose, making it difficult for the average fan to figure out just who held what title.

The rivalry was also given a political and social cast. Many viewed the Ali-Frazier matches as a snapshot of the struggles of the 1960s. Ali, an adherent of the Nation of Islam, came to represent rising black anger in America and opposition to the Vietnam War. Frazier voiced no political views, but he was nonetheless depicted, to his consternation, as the favorite of the establishment. Ali called him “ignorant,” likened him to a gorilla and said his black supporters were Uncle Toms.

“Frazier had become the white man’s fighter, Mr. Charley was rooting for Frazier, and that meant blacks were boycotting him in their heart,” Norman Mailer wrote in Life magazine following the first Ali-Frazier bout.

Frazier, wrote Mailer, was “twice as black as Clay and half as handsome,” with “the rugged decent life-worked face of a man who had labored in the pits all his life.”

Frazier could never match Ali’s charisma or his gift for the provocative quote. He was essentially a man devoted to a brutal craft, willing to give countless hours to his spartan training-camp routine and unsparing of his body inside the ring.

“The way I fight, it’s not me beatin’ the man: I make the man whip himself,” Frazier told Playboy in 1973. “Because I stay close to him. He can’t get out the way.” He added: “Before he knows it — whew! — he’s tired. And he can’t pick up his second wind because I’m right back on him again.”

In his autobiography, “Smokin’ Joe,” written with Phil Berger, Frazier said his first trainer, Yank Durham, had given him his nickname. It was, he said, “a name that had come from what Yank used to say in the dressing room before sending me out to fight: ‘Go out there, goddammit, and make smoke come from those gloves.’ “

Boxing Legend 'Smokin' Joe Frazier Under Hospice Care Suffering From Liver Cancer.

Boxing great Joe Frazier, who went toe to toe three times with Muhammad Ali, including the famous "Thrilla in Manila" fight, is seriously ill with liver cancer and is in hospice, his personal and business manager said Saturday.

Frazier, 67, is in a Philadelphia facility, manager Leslie Wolff said. The former heavyweight champion was diagnosed just four or five weeks ago.

"He's a true gentleman," Wolff said. "Along with Muhammad Ali, (he is) one of the two most recognizable athletes in the world."

Frazier, nicknamed "Smokin' Joe," used his devastating left hook with impunity during his professional career, retiring with a 32-4-1 record.

Frazier, the son of a South Carolina sharecropper, boxed during the glory days of the heavyweight division, going up against greats George Foreman, Oscar Bonavena, Joe Bugner and Jimmy Ellis.
Don Lemon takes on Joe Frazier

But it was his three much-hyped fights against Ali that helped seal his legend.

Frazier bested Ali at 1971's "Fight of the Century" at Madison Square Garden. In the 15th round, Frazier landed perhaps the most famous left hook in history, catching Ali on the jaw and dropping the former champ for a four-count, according to Frazier's bio at the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Frazier left the ring as the undisputed champ.

Ali won a 12-round decision in a January 1974 rematch, setting the stage for the classic "Thrilla in Manila" just outside the Philippine capital in 1975.

Ali took the early rounds, but Frazier rebounded before losing the last five rounds. By the end of the 14th, Frazier's eyes were nearly swollen shut, and his corner stopped the bout, according to the biography.

Later, Ali said, "It was the closest I've come to death."

Fans and well-wishers were encouraged to post their thoughts and prayers at joefrazierscorner.com
