What would Hip-Hop be without a little scandal? Whether you call them opportunists, groupies, home wreckers or gold diggers, some of the best moments in Hip-Hop happen behind the scenes, instead of in front of the mic. While infidelity is nothing new to the culture, and not just Hip-Hop, the gritty details of salacious affairs make break-up stories that much sweeter. In honor of stripper-turned-model Amber Rose calling out ex-boyfriend, Kanye West, for cheating on her with Kim Kardashian, I have compiled a shortlist of some Hip-Hop home wreckers. Check out the women who made headlines for their talents between the sheets.
Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz may be a Hip-Hop power couple now, but four years ago, their union was shrouded in controversy. Keys was blasted as a home wrecker for hooking up with Swizzy while he was still married to his ex, Mashonda Tifrere. Adding insult to injury was the fact that Tifrere was busy raising their toddler son when her hubby of four years traded her in for the piano-playing songstress. Despite a barrage of written and verbal lashings, Keys and Swizzy tied the knot in the summer of 2010, and welcomed their first son together later that year.
Jennifer Lopez
Back when her "love didn't cost a thing," Jennifer Lopez enthralled the Hip-Hop world by dating Sean "Diddy" Combs. The Bronx beauty was just getting her feet wet in what would become a long swim in the pool celebrity male suitors, when she and Diddy started dating-- even though had a girlfriend. Combs' longtime lady, Kim Porter, later accused Lopez of stealing her man, only to dump him after a nightclub shooting scandal. In the end, Porter and Combs reconciled, and Lopez moved on to more men than we have time to list.
Rocsi Diaz
As the co-host of BET's 106 & Park, Rocsi Diaz is used to asking celebrities about their personal lives, but when it comes to her own scandalous past, she's much more discreet. Diaz gained home wrecker status when she allegedly got involved with Michael Misick, husband of actress LisaRaye. The BET personality stayed mum on the affair but LisaRaye told just about anyone who would listen that Diaz was a man stealer. LisaRaye later divorced Misick, while Diaz refuses to admit to having any involvement in the sullied liaison.
Cassie Ventura
As far as side-pieces go, Cassie gets the award for sticking it out the longest. The 25-year-old singer'sunwavering dedication to Sean “Diddy” Combs--even as he continues to have children with Kim Porter, and a few other people--is noteworthy. Diddy and Cassie have been together for years, and are spotted from time to time snuggling in New York City, or going on romantic vacations. Porter, who announced she was leaving Combs over his infidelity a few years back, has never publicly addressed his relationship with Cassie, but we all know the deal.
Karrine Steffans
In the book of Hip-Hop sex scandals Karrine "Superhead" Steffans will go down in history for cashing in on her oral sex skills, and bedding just about everybody in the game. Her best-selling memoir Confessions of a Video Vixen blew the lid off the shady sex practices that occur after the cameras stop rolling, and unveiled her laundry list of sex partners, including Ja Rule, Usher, and Jay-Z. A clever business woman in her own right, Steffans amassed a reported net worth of $8.5 million, giving hope to groupies everywhere that success doesn't end at a video shoot.
