Woman's body found in suitcase at Russia playground

Police in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg have launched a murder investigation after the body of an elderly woman was found stuffed inside a suitcase at a local playground, officials said.

A spokesperson for Russia's Investigative Committee said the suitcase was discovered on early Thursday morning at a playground along a street in northeast St. Petersburg. "The suitcase contained the body of an unidentified elderly woman with no visible signs of a violent death," the spokesperson said.

Investigators believe the victim was about 70 years old, but no documents have been found inside the suitcase which could help identify the woman. It was not immediately known how long the suitcase had been at the playground, when the woman may have died, or what was the cause of death.

Thursday's discovery comes just days after a street cleaner found a suitcase containing a woman's body near a garbage container in northern Moscow. The woman had been decapitated, her hands tied behind her back, and police later arrested the victim's friend on suspicion of committing the murder.

Lionel Messi signs with French minnows, or did he?

Lionel Messi has signed for French second division side Angers SCO. But this is not the Argentine Lionel Messi, widely regarded as the world's best footballer. Instead, the 'Lionel Messi' that has signed for Angers is a 16-year-old prospect from Cameroon going by exactly the same name. Sports intelligence firm Inforstrada Sports were the first to report on the signing which caused much confusion amongst the football fan fraternity.

Man Utd fanzine "Red Issue" criticised for Muamba cover

Manchester United fanzine Red Issue has been criticised over it's controversial cover showing Bolton Wanderers player Fabrice Muamba on the pitch following a cardiac arrest he suffered while playing at White Hart Lane.

The cover mocks the outpouring of support and grief over the players sudden collapse, from which he is making a good recovery.

Outrage at the fanzine has been expressed on Twitter with users calling the poor taste cover "filth", "disgusting", "horrid and completely disrespectful".

This is not the first time Red Issue has caused controversy. In February police seized copies of the magazine which had a cut out KKK mask with the words "Suarez is innocent" on the cover.

The latest controversial issue was on sale outside the Man Utd game on Monday.

Footballer dies on the pitch in India because of lack of medical attention

A footballer has died in India due to a lack of medical attention, NDTV reported.

The player, known as Venkatesh, died on the pitch during a tournament today, and was a first division player for a local club, Bangalore Mars.

He collapsed while warming up in the practice area during a match against SW Railway at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

Venkatesh's teammates hired an auto rickshaw and took him to Hosmat Hospital, one of Bangalore's most busiest hospitals, but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

Venkatesh, 28, was a resident of Gautampura in east Bangalore. Initial diagnosis suggests cardiac arrest was the cause of death.

Only last week, the Bolton player Fabrice Muamba collapsed during a FA Cup tie with Tottenham. He was critical in intensive care but has now been declared stable.

The 8 types of women you should never date (Never!) by Jide Taiwo

It certainly feels like male-bashing season. Every other day there’s a new blog post, or article, or snide tweet admonishing women not to date this type of guy or why that type of guy is wrong for them. The way these women carry on, one would think all men were either a cold or calculating sociopath who only wants to jump into bed with every woman; or beer guzzling, unambitious zombies, devoted only to watching football.

But you see, that is not the case. Women happen to have more baggage than men (pun intended) and men have the gift of spotting baggage-carriers from afar off, as well as the skill to avoid them.

Well, most men… If you’re one of the hapless souls who do not, here are the 8 types of women that no young Nigerian man should date. At all.
