The 6th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, was broadcast on Tuesday night, with Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown winning top honors of the night. Hosted by comedian Mike Epps, the event featured a number of impressive cypher performances and appearances from such big stars as Swizz Beatz, T.I., Lupe Fiasco, Erykah Badu and Eminem.
Wayne grabbed Best Live Performer and Lyricist of the Year, beating out Busta, Cee-Lo Green, Jay-Z and Kanye West in the former, and pushed aside Hova, Kanye, Rick Ross and Minaj in the latter.
Brown's collaboration with Weezy and Busta Rhymes in a song called "Look at Me Now" won Best Hip-Hop Video, Reese's Perfect Combo Award, and Verizon People's Champ Award. Additionally, the verses rapped by Busta in the track were named Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.
Nicki Minaj held her own, with The Young Money femcee claiming MVP of the Year and the Made-You-Look Award. Meanwhile, Wiz Khalifa earned two kudos. The rapper, who is vying for New Artist of the Year at 2011 American Music Awards, walked home as a Rookie of the Year, and scored Track of the Year through his breakthrough single (and winner for most inane hit in the history of the universe) "Black and Yellow".
Kanye and Jay-Z didn't leave empty-handed, of course. The Throne collaborators claimed one prize each, with Kanye winning CD of the Year for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Jay-Z winning Hustler of the Year title.
Additionally, special honoree of the night was LL Cool J, who was saluted with "I Am Hip-Hop" Icon Award.
